Photo Friday – HALLOWEEN – Charlotte Hellings
‘Photo Friday’ is a weekly photography competition that Camera House Australia runs. Every week we choose a new theme and prize, and this week the winner was Charlotte Hellings who entered this incredible image for the theme: HALLOWEEN.
We asked Charlotte a few questions about her image, and this is what she had to say:
Q.What inspired this photo?
A. The inspiration for this photo was purely to do something a little different. As I mainly shoot landscapes and families I was dying to do something different. I’ve always loved the skull candy look, and with Halloween coming up it seemed the perfect time to give it a go and see what we ended up with. So I teamed up with an amazing make up artist to bring the concept to life.
Q.What camera did you use?
A. All I used for this shoot was a Nikon D600 and Sigma 70-300 3.5-5.6 and we took advantage of the amazing natural light we had at the location, although it was very dark the back lighting was amazing.
Q. What setting did you use?
A. Settings for this shot were Shutter 80, F stop 5 and iso 1000.
Q. Did you edit this image, If so what did you do and with what program?
A. Only minor editing has been done to this image, a couple of little tweaks on the curves and obviously turning it to black and white. The only editing program used for this particular shot was Lightroom.
Q. Do you have any advice for our community photographers?
A. The only advice I really have for anyone is to never give up, and to think outside the square when it comes to photography. There is a story in every photo, you can get a great photo of anything.
