Photo Friday Landscape Winner Kieran Cochrane
What inspired this photo?
I came to this location previously and photographed it and found some nice angles and studied the images afterwards thing of ways to “improve” on them. I notice it faced west where the sun will sets. I packed up my gear and went there around 3pm and found a spot and waited for the light to come low enough to shine through the waterfall. What I wasn’t expecting was rain! The clouds rushed over and after standing in the rain for a good 2hrs the clouds began to break up and the sun began shine through, creating a magical golden glow which was reflected through the waterfall.
What camera did you use?
This was shot on a sony A850 with a Tamron 11-18mm lens (croped on the full fame camera), Velbon Tripod & Hahel Remote Shutter Release
What settings did you use?
Aperture F11, Iso 100, Sutter Speed 2 seconds
Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program?
I catalogue and process all my images in Adobe Lightroom and final adjustments, spot removal, sharpening etc were all done in Photoshop.
Do you have any advice for our community of photographers?
Never Leave a Location because of poor weather, you will always be rewarded with something unexpected for sitting it out.
