Photo Friday – MOTHER’S DAY – Kellee Mitchell
‘Photo Friday’ is a weekly photography competition that Camera House Australia runs. Every week we choose a new theme and prize, and this week the winner was Kellee Mitchell who entered a stunning image for the theme: MOTHER’S DAY.
We asked Kellee a few questions about her image, and this is what she had to say:
Q.What inspired this photo?
A.The photo is of my Sister and her little girl. They live 5 hours away and I don’t get to see them very often. My Sister is a first time Mum and I wanted to capture a picture showing the connection and love between Mum and Bub. It’s such a powerful bond. I was hoping to capture a tender moment, that all the family can treasure.
Q.What camera did you use?
A.My old Nikon D40X
Q. What setting did you use?
A.f7.1, iso 200, 1/100 with my 55-200mm lens @70mm
Q.Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program?
A. I use Lightroom 4 and did some minor editing with the light and dark sliders and saturation sliders.
Q. Do you have any advice for our community photographers?
A.Look outside the frame, be unique and look at subjects / scenes from a different perspective. Challenge yourself and find a photography project that inspires you. Mostly just enjoy the joy photography gives you.
