Photo Friday – RED – Dean Harris
‘Photo Friday’ is a weekly photography competition that Camera House Australia runs. Every week we choose a new theme and prize, and this week the winner was Dean Harris who entered this creative image for the theme: RED.
We asked Dean a few questions about his image, and this is what he had to say:
Q.What inspired this photo?
A. I have to give credit to Kayell Australia and model Porcelain Alice. This shot was take at a studio lighting workshop I was doing with them.
Q.What camera did you use?
A. Nikon D7100 with Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 with 2 Elinchrom strobes and 66cm softboxes
Q. What setting did you use?
A. 1/125th @ f5.6, 50mm, ISO100.
Q. Did you edit this image, If so what did you do and with what program?
A. This was edited in Adobe Lightroom. Very little editing except added contrast. Looking at it again now, the contrast was overdone.
Q. Do you have any advice for our community photographers?
A. While this shot was taken with a fairly expensive studio lighting setup, it doesn’t necessarily need to be done this way. My personal light setup is very cheap, but effective comprising a single flash, soft box and reflector. You can still get some great shots with lighting on a budget. Learn at a workshop with the fancy gear then adapt what you have learned to our own setup.
