Photo Friday – SPRING – Derek Wolrige
‘Photo Friday’ is a weekly photography competition that Camera House Australia runs. Every week we choose a new theme and prize, and this week the winner was Derek Wolrige who entered this adorable image for the theme: SPRING.
We asked Derek a few questions about his image, and this is what he had to say:
Q.What inspired this photo?
A.On this day there were butterflies everywhere! and thankfully it was the weekend so I had some time to take photos in the backyard.
Q.What camera did you use?
A. Canon 6D with Canon 85mm f1.8
Q. What setting did you use?
A.Manual, ISO50, F2, 1/4000th sec.
Q.Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program?
A. I used Photoshop to edit the RAW file, (brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, sharpness etc). Did not post process within Photoshop.
Q. Do you have any advice for our community photographers?
A.Look for where the action is and wait patiently. I used manual settings and exposed for the highlights, I wanted a shallow depth of field so I set my aperture to F2 (to help separate the subject from the background), in doing so this lets in a lot of light, so I needed to use a fast shutter speed and low ISO to get the exposure I was after.
