Photo Friday Winner John Marshall – Industrial
What inspired this photo?
I was inspired to take the image from seeing others online of Grain Silo Bins around Western Australia taken at night but other photographers as part of workshops and on social shoots. York where these grain bins are located is about an hour and a half from my home so it seemed like a distance that wasn’t too far out for a weekend night drive.
What camera did you use?
I used a Nikon D800 with a Sigma 12-24DG Lens
What settings did you use?
Manual mode at 12mm, ISO3200, F.4,5 and the exposure was 30 seconds. I also used a LED Lenser torch to light paint the silos / foreground.
Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program?
In post I used adobe lightroom to apply a lens profile and basic color, exposure adjustments and noise reduction, then in Photoshop i painted over the shadow on a semi transparent layer to accentuate it a little.
Do you have any advice for our community of photographers?
If I had any advice to give the community it would be to keep snapping and try different angles, if a vision you have doesn’t work first time go back and have another try.
