Sony’s latest release HD camcorder is a beautifully styled compact camcorder that appeals to the prosumer in us all. It boasts exceptional low light performance and takes the shake out of handheld recording with enhanced Active Optical SteadyShot (10x more steady footage in wide mode and Electronic Active SteadyShot provides 2x more steady footage in telephoto mode).
The wide angle Sony Pro G lens gives users the ability to capture wide angle vision without the need for an extra lens and you can shoot off 26.3 mm (35 mm equivalent) images in stills mode. The Exmor R CMOS Sensor – designed specifically to achieve great shooting resolutions in low light – is another bonus.
Camera users will appreciate the iAUTO mode which eliminates the guesswork from your shooting by selecting the optimal settings for you, whether it be a close up shot, (face detection will kick in) night scene, (ten different scene modes up to 90 variations) or hand held shot (iAUTO can detect if you’re using a tripod).
Another breakthrough feature is the addition of a built in GPS receiver allowing geotagging of your videos – you use the touch screen to view your current location on the LCD map display, and then ‘tag’ your shooting locations. Add to this the ability to shoot 12 megapixel still images and up to 64 GB of memory and you have a camera that will deliver great results every time.
