Through the lens of our winner – Teresa.B
Take a look at last week’s Photo Friday winning image by Teresa.B. This great shot was submitted in the ‘Interesting Perspectives’ theme and was cleverly captured by shooting a cluster of toothpicks from overhead. Great work Teresa!
What camera did you use?
I used my Nikon D70 with a Nikkor 50mml lens.
What settings did you use?
I had only recently started using this DSLR, I think the settings were Aperture f/5.6, Exposure 1/125.
What inspired this shot?
It was a case of serendipity! I was setting up for a party and noticed how the toothpicks fell when I took the lid off the container. It reminded me of a minature flower opening up, so I dropped everything and grabbed my camera.
Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program?
I used Adobe Photoshop CS for some tweaking of lighting, levels and sharpening.
Do you have any advice for our community of photographers?
It’s easy to get disheartened when you look at the work of other photographers and think yours will never be as good. Fine art training has helped me develop a creative way of looking at potential photo subjects, but I’m still learning the technical side of photography (and have a long way to go!). We’re all on the learning road; it just takes regular practice, an open mind and lots of reading online and the old fashioned way (books/magazines).
Where was this photo taken?
It was taken in natural light on a table.
