Established in 1919, over the 90 years, Pentax has introduced
numerous technological advances, making our cameras, lenses, scopes
and binoculars the most sought after in the world.
PENTAX Imaging Company was founded in 1919 under the name, Asahi
Optical Joint Stock Co. In 1952, we introduced our first SLR
camera, the Asahiflex I, and quickly became an industry leader.
Since then, we've released numerous, innovative products, such as
the Asahi PENTAX single-lens reflex camera, the Spotmatic and the
K1000, which have empowered and inspired photographers around the
world. We opened our first overseas office in 1962.
Today, PENTAX distributors and subsidiary companies can be found
in over 100 countries. Our worldwide network provides our R&D
departments with in-depth market research, allowing us to develop
the products that photography enthusiasts want and need most.
