With 2 UD glass elements on board to eliminate lens aberration and distortion, the EF 300mm f/4L IS USM also features Canon’s image stabilising system to give shooters more versatility when it comes to hand held photography, the IS allows speeds up to two stops slower than otherwise possible, making it even more useful in low light levels.
Less than half the weight of the 300mm f/2.8L IS, The 300mm F4 is also able to achieve fairly close focus for a lens of this type at 1.5m.
The rear focus system with USM delivers fast silent accurate shots and like all of Canon’s fixed focal length L-series lenses above 135mm, it’s compatible with Canon’s EF Extenders 1.4x II and 2x II.
Good: Lightweight compared to other 300mm lenses in Canon ‘s range.
Bad: The filter size at 77mm is larger than standard so may not be compatible with other filters in your kit.
