Weighing in at just 130g this is Canon’s most compact and lightest standard lens.
Just because it’s small though, doesn’t mean it is lacking in features.
With a fast f/1.8 aperture, it is a great lens for the photo enthusiast who prefers a fixed focal range across the length of the lens.
Featuring a Gausse type optical design the EF 50mm f1.8 II provides sharp performance and great colour balance. It can focus as close as 45cm, making it quite a versatile standard lens.
Good: Very lightweight and compact. Easy to use, a great lens for the intermediate shooter.
Bad: The five blade diaphragm can leave a less pleasing background blur than its f1.4 counterpart...
