If you’re in the market for a new telephoto lens, the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM is a high powered lens that features image stabilization, auto focus with the option for manual focusing and superior image quality thanks to two UD elements and a floating mechanism.
On board image stabilisation effectively boosts shooting by approximately four stops allowing shooters greater freedom when shooting hand held and virtually eliminating camera shake and image blur.
The lens system’s floating mechanism allow the shooter to deliver sharp crisp images across the entire focal length of the lens, whilst the UD elements correct chromatic aberrations, virtually eliminating barrel distortion and providing clear images from corner to corner.
The USM delivers AF that is swift and silent with the option for manual focusing.
Good: Image stabilisation expands the versatility of this lens which is part of Canon’s L series, range for pro shooters. The UD elements deliver sharp, crystal clear images even at full zoom.
Bad: Slightly heavy lens, no tripod collar.
