Join John Ralph from Erina Camera House on an adventure through three or four African countries -Botswana -Namibia- Zimbabwe and with an option to expend for a wind down in south Africa. The annual tour conducted by African Adventures Safari Company travel for 16 days through wilderness areas to experience the true African excitement.
This trip has been designed to allow keen photographers the opportunity to get up close to wildlife and have assistance from an experienced photographer to ensure they come home with outstanding pictures of their journey. The photographer is there on the trip to advise and instruct where needed. A series of workshops are also provided in Australia prior to the journey for those that live near the sponsoring store.
Flying to Johannesburg then on to Kasane in Botswana, the trip starts in the rivers near the Okavango Delta exploring the Caprivi Strip in Namibia and then photographing wildlife in the Chobe National Park by vehicle and boat on the Chobe River. The boats are specially designed where each photographer has their own swivel seat and gimbal. Also being a specialist photographic tour, the boats are allowed to stay out longer to record the sunset.
The next excitement occurs in Victoria Falls, where there is an optional program of helicopters over the falls, walking with Lions, riding on Elephants and walking the top of the Falls. This is also an excellent venue for cheap African souvenirs of trinkets or clothing.
Leaving civilisation, we head to the magnificent Hwange National Park where we travel on our on train into the tented Bomani Safari Camp. Three nights in luxurious tents allows time to see many wild animals around waterholes and from underground hides.
The final section travels to Bulawayo and the Matobo Hills. This National Park in Zimbabwe, houses the final resting place of Cecil Rhodes and is home to wild White Rhino. We stay in solid cabins made of the native stone and experience fantastic opportunities for wildlife, landscape and astro photography.
For those wishing to make the most of their African Adventure, there is an offer of an extra four nights at the Underberg Guest House in Capetown surrounded by excellent seafood and other restaurants and spectacular views from Table Mountain and the many lookouts.
