Canon EOS 5D Mark lll – The wait is over!

Today’s the day where Camera House and a lot of other photographic supporters are sitting at the IMAX Theatre celebrating Canon’s 75th Anniversary.

Needless to say, they have chosen this day to revel the news we’ve all been waiting for… Canon have  just announced their new 5D Mk III, the newest Canon professional DSLR on the market.

WOW! A three letter word that seems to be on repeat right at this moment. Canon’s 5D Mk III is beyond anything in its class at the moment and we’re sure all love Canon lovers will get a real kick out of this spec line up.

It boasts a large 22.3 Megapixel Full Frame CMOS Sensor backed up with a DiG!C 5+ Image Processor and if that isn’t enough for our serious shooters an ISO of 100-25600 is on board to make shooting in any light situation an absolute pleasure. With this sort of control over your images you’ll really be able to achieve any shot you desire without limitations.

Of course Canon included Full HD Movie Recording like it’s predecessor the 5D Mk II except this time ramping the ISO up to 100-12800. Canon understands the varying demands of advanced photographers and has incorporated a high-precision, super multi-point AF system that delivers superior results under a wide variety of shooting conditions. The EOS 5D Mark III’s new 61-point reticular AF system, includes up to 41 cross-type focus points. 2 Extra points have been positioned to the left and right of the centre frame, giving photographers greater and more precise, accuracy and compositional freedom.

The EOS 5D Mark III offers up to approximately 6.0 frames-per-second continuous shooting speed, with a release time of approximately 0.59ms providing users with the ability to shoot anything from fast-moving action to candid portraits.

The Optical TTL Intelligent viewfinder with approx. 100% coverage is backed up with a 3.2 ” Clear View LCD ll Screen. It has Dual CF/SD Card Slots, comparative Playback function and they’ve also improved durability making it splash-proof and dust resistant.

To support the desire of many photographers to push the boundaries of their technique and experience the joy of full creative photographic expression, Canon has introduced a range of new features that allow exploration of new techniques. The EOS 5D Mark III incorporates a new High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode to enable greater creative expression. The camera captures three images of a single scene at different exposures and then merges them automatically to create a single HDR image. Four additional, in-camera special picture effects (Art Standard, Art Vivid, Art Bold and Art Embossed) allow even greater creative freedom.

“The EOS 5D Mark III sets a new benchmark in the high-performance DSLR camera category”, said Chris Macleod, Canon EOS Brand Manager and trust us it really does!
