Capture the wonders of nature with ease with the JVC GZ-HM550

This new camera from JVC is fresh to market and offers a slew of features that will have the techie in your family grinning from ear to ear. Built in Bluetooth technology means that you can use your camcorder in new ways by linking wirelessly to various devices such as your mobile phone; making sharing your favourite photos and videos simple.

By installing a supplied app, you can even control your camcorder remotely and like the Sony camera we’ve previewed, the GZ HM550 has built in GPS, so recording your location data and sharing the info is a button touch away. The recorded GPS info synchronises with Google Earth when viewing images on the bundled Everio MediaBrowser via a PC.

Apart from the high tech advances like Bluetooth and GPS, the HM550 is no slacker when it comes to the recording stakes either. Its 10.62 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor enables shooting of 1920 x 1080p full HD videos and real 9 megapixel digital stills. Backed by the power of a Konica Minolta HD Lens (one of the world’s smallest and slimmest HD lens) the camcorder can offer 16x dynamic zoom without any degradation of picture quality. The Super LoLux feature improves low-light sensitivity to capture clear images with precise colours even in low-light environments. The GZ-HM550 is also equipped with both LED light and flash for shooting in dark situations, so snapping off shots of those birthday candle moments will be easy. Recordings are stored on the 32GB internal flash memory but high end users can add to this memory thanks to the inclusion of an SD/SDHC card slot.

Nature lovers will also be keen on the new Time lapse record feature which allows you to set the camera to record in intervals ranging from 1 to 80 seconds. Capture the wonders of nature with ease!

Add in a motor drive that allows you to shoot up to 15 frames per second and you’ve got one smart camcorder – you’ll never have to carry a camera plus a camcorder again…
