Consumer Electronics Show (CES)

Over 140,000 industry professionals converged on Las Vegas for a week this January to ogle the latest and greatest in new technology.

More than 20,000 new products from over 2000 of the world’s leading tech companies were launched at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with new trends emerging in tablets and wireless technology, 3D TV and recording; the advent of 4G plus in a world first for CES, an electric car (the new Ford Focus) got a showing!

Those eager to hear what was in store for consumer tech got their info straight from the source with many of the CEOs from the world’s leading tech co.s taking to the CES stage including Microsoft‘s Steve Ballmer, Verizon’s Ivan Seidenberg, Audi’s Rupert Stadler, Samsung’s Boo-Keun Yoon, Ford’s Alan Mulally, Netflix’s Reed Hastings, Cisco’s John Chambers, Xerox’s Ursula Burns and GE’s Jeffrey Immelt to reveal keynote speeches to the eager audience. The 2011 International CES conference program consisted of some 250 sessions featuring 900 speakers so attendees certainly got their fill of info.

Of course shutterbugs weren’t left out in the cold, with many of the leading manufacturers including Sony, Samsung and GE announcing new products that are certain to please the snap happy amongst us (there were over 60 announcements for new gear) and Olympus’ XZ-1 and EPL2 turning heads while the Lady GaGa designed Polaroid camera also scored a few oohs and ahs from the assembled media
