Fujifilm Finepix F550EXR

Fujifilm chose CES to unveil its new EXR ultra compact travel camera and revealed a formidable beast with a whopping Fujinon 15x zoom wide angle 24-360mm Optical Zoom lens with built in Image Stabilisation (CMOS Shift and high ISO) advanced anti-blur technology, high speed shooting and auto focus and a spanking new 16 megapixel EXR CMOS sensor.

Aimed at the serious point and shoot photographer, the F550EXR is packed with features that include built in GPS, HD video shooting and an intelligent processor that can identify some 27 different scene modes from blue skies to green leaves and backlit scenes to the more traditional pets and kids portraits and landscape modes.

You’ll also never be caught short when it comes to capturing the action on the sports field or the great outdoors. The F550EXR can deliver up to 8 frames per second for up to 8 frames before it has to pause to take a breath. If you want a longer burst of images or a faster frame rate, it can capture 11 frames per second at 8 megapixel resolution for up to 16 frames or the same frame rate for up to 32 frames at 4 megapixel.

Those of you that like to travel light will appreciate the addition of Full HD recording at 30 frames per second, which couples with stereo sound to ensure your home movies will look and sound fantastic. Footage is recorded in the industry standard H264 MOV format  (used by blu-ray manufacturers so you know it’s good) yet still produces smaller file sizes than the conventional AVI format. What more could you want in a compact travel camera?

Hi I was wondering if it has an Australian release date yet? And also what the RRP is?

  • Camera House says:

They should be out in March and at the moment the RRP is $499. We’re really looking forward to seeing this one in the market, it’s a really great camera and especially at that price!
