DJI Phantom 4, drone, technology, video

Here at Camera House we are drone enthusiast’s! This week we will be talking everything drones, from the latest products to the rules of flying and what better way to kick it off than a look at the incredible DJI Phantom 4. With innovative ActiveTrack and TapFly technology the Phantom 4 can track like never before, avoiding any obstacles that arise. Lets take a closer look at some of the Phantom 4’s features.

Tap to Fly and Smart Return Home Modes

Forget the traditional remote, the TapFly technology means you can fly in any direction with the tap of a finger. You can change direction or pause your drone with ease allowing you to focus more on the perfect shot. In addition, the Smart Return Home mode means you can simply tap your smartphone and the device will make its way back to you. Utilising its obstacle avoidance technology you can rest assured that your drone will make it back safely avoiding any buildings, trees or hurdles that get it its way.

One of our favourite features of this drone is the ActiveTrack technology. Phantom 4 utilises an advanced combination of computer vision, object recognition,  and machine learning to track you as you go. You can turn on Moving POI and the drone will circle around your subject as they move or reframe your shot by dragging the subject on the screen. Meanwhile this intelligent drone is constantly using obstacle avoidance to make decisions on whether it should continue following you, avoid an obstacle or simply stop. Although the obstacle avoidance system can pick up most things that get in the way of your drone, it will not be able to detect anything 500 pixels.

Perfect for athletes or thrill seekers the Phantom 4 allows you to track every movement and relive everything thrilling second.

Sense and Avoid

The Phantom 4 has its own pair of ‘eyes’ that allow it to see in 3 dimensions. The device then utilises its downward facing Vision Positioning to offer five times more positioning accuracy than previous models. It’s specially designed u-frame structure and Gimble Control Unit ensure that the drone can prepare for movements before they happen and consequently increase stability and image clarity.  It is so intuitive that it also utilises these technologies to send its pilot warnings so that you are always aware of what is happening.

Automatic Flight Logs

Relive your adventures with automatic flight logs that record your flight routes, duration, location, distance and speed. At the same time the drone constantly records the data from its internal mechanisms that you can share with DJI’s support team if you have any questions or issues.

If you are new to the world of drones the Phantom 4 has a beginner mode that is perfect for finding your feet. It places limits of things such a distance, flight altitude and camera tilt controls allowing you to familiarise yourself with the device before opening up access to all controls.

Sport Mode

The Phantom 4’s sport mode brings you the ultimate thrill of speed. With its maximum speed increased by 25% it can reach speeds of up to 72kph. With its streamline body and larger battery life the Phantom 4 can achieve a flight time of 28 minutes. With capabilities like this we think it is only a matter of time until we will be heading to the World Drone Championship Races!

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced drone enthusiast the Phantom 4 is definitely worth a try!
