Photo Friday Disaster Zone Winner – Michelle!
What Camera did you use?
Canon 5D mkII
What settings did you use?
I used my Canon 24-105 lens. ISO200, f/4.5, 1/125 sec, focal length around 70mm. I also used a 580ex flash.
What inspired the shot?
This shot was originally planned for a camera club competition where the subject was “small disaster”.
Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program?
Yes I did edit the shot using Photoshop – mostly just increasing the contrast so that there was plenty of detail in all the ingredients on the bench. I also did some dodging and burning – particularly on my husband’s face to accentuate his awesome expression.
Do you have any advice for our community of photographers?
Yes, don’t turn an electric beater on with only dry ingredients in the bowl… But seriously, my advice is that it doesn’t matter what camera gear you have – a good imagination is the most important tool! I could have easily taken this photo with a basic compact camera – this was all about creating a funny story, not about a technically brilliant piece of art.
Where was this photo taken?
In my kitchen. And if you were wondering… yes, there was a huge mess to clean up afterwards!
