Photo Friday – GREEN & BEAUTY – Melissa Evans
‘Photo Friday’ is a weekly photography competition that Camera House Australia runs. Every week we choose a new theme and prize, and this week the winner was Melissa Evans who entered this beautiful photo for the theme: GREEN & BEAUTY.
We asked Melissa a few questions about her image, and this is what she had to say:
Q.What inspired this photo?
A. This has been a dream shot of mine for so long, a peacock in all its glory!! We spend the day at Symbio Zoo and while having lunch this beautiful bird put on a show for us. I snuck behind some bushes (as you can see in the foreground) so he didn’t see me sneaking this photo.
Q.What camera did you use?
A. I took this photo with a canon 600d, with my 15-85mm lens.
Q. What setting did you use?
A.IOS 250, 75mm f 5.6, 1/100sec.
Q. Did you edit this image, If so what did you do and with what program?
A. I used Lightroom 5, basic tweaks, including sharpening, shadows, colour management; but it really didn’t need much attention at all.
Q. Do you have any advice for our community photographers?
A. Get and take photos!! I would never had been able to get this shot if I had of stayed at home!! You don’t need the best camera to take photos, just make the most of what you have. And most of all build a community of inspiring photographers around you and learn from them.
