Photo Friday – RURAL – Bek Tierney

‘Photo Friday’ is a weekly photography competition that Camera House Australia runs. Every week we choose a new theme and prize, and this week the winner was Bek Tierney who entered into our RURAL theme.

We asked Bek about her image, and this is what she had to say:

It was taken on a friends family dairy farm after we escaped being eaten by the cows to the other side of the gate and safety. Talk about curious! This lovely cow was particularly friendly (or hungry) and was too gorgeous not to photograph. I had just been given my camera as a gift a few months earlier, a Fujifilm XE-1 with an 50-230mm lens. The photo was taken at 63mm, ISO 200 and exposure was 1/40sec with aperture f13.

This was in the very early stages of learning to take photos and I carried my camera everywhere with me.

As I took this photo a couple of years ago and I’ve only recently got Lightroom I hadn’t edited it before then, but I played with it a little before submitting. The main thing I did was to darken and increase the intensity of the sky, no real technique used for this, I just played with settings until I was happy with the look.
