Photo Friday ‘Travel’ Winner – Noel!

What camera did you use? Canon 5D Mark II with the Tamron 24-70mm.

What settings did you use? ISO 400, Focal Length 70mm, Aperture f/2.8, 1/3200 shutter speed.

What inspired this shot? Visiting Vietnam has always been on my wishlist and one of the many locations i wanted to visit was the Meekong Delta. I wanted to capture the cultural lifestyle of the people and their way of life. The floating river markets gave an insight into how the remote areas thrive with locals who sell/trade food to make a living. The markets thrive early in the morning where you get to see all the activities and i was fortunate enough to get right into the middle of the market and snap away all these photographs focusing on different angles and compositions.

Did you edit this image, if so what did you do and with what program? Shooting in RAW was beneficial as I could make adjustments easily to the image.  I edited this in Lightroom with some basic adjustments. Considering it was sunrise the pictures were slightly underexposed so I played around with the exposure, contrast and shadows to reveal the scene. In addition I added slight vibrancy to bring out the colour and applied slight sharpening as well.

Do you have any advice for our community of photographers? If you have the passion for photography you can set up your own goals and ambitions and work towards achieving them. Practice your camera skills and know your equipment. Always think outside the box and take every opportunity that comes your way. There are so many resources out there so it’s up to you to make the most of it and learn.

Where was this photo taken? Can Tho River Market, Vietnam.
