Travelling around Australia, you won’t run short of amazing locations perfect for photography. Queensland is certainly one of the most photogenic places in Australia, if not the world!

From the colourful city of Brisbane to the far reaches of northern Queensland, from rolling plains to gorgeous beaches, there is sure to be a place your camera will love!

Excellent weather and awe-inspiring sights make Queensland the perfect place to get some stunning photos. These are some of our favourite photography spots in Queensland.

The Great Barrier Reef

Elabana Falls, Lamington National Park

Elabana Falls is located within Lamington National Park, an hour and a half drive from Brisbane. It’s a popular destination for photographers because this waterfall is one of the most stunning in Australia.

A bit of a hike from the carpark, you will be rewarded with plenty of opportunities to whip your camera out. Once you reach the falls, be sure to tiptoe over the rocks to get a better view of this beautiful natural scene.

Southbank, Brisbane

For impressive urban photography, there’s no better place to go than Brisbane’s Southbank. It’s a great place to spend a few hours, taking in the sights of the city and wandering down the promenade.

Get a stunning view of the city from the promenade or take a ride on the Brisbane Wheel for striking views. The wheel lights up at night and makes for an excellent subject itself. Just be sure you have a tripod on you for crisp clean late-night shots.

Brisbane is one of the most picturesque cities in Australia, and from Mt Coot-tha you can see why. Surrounded by greenery, the city seems to glow as the sun rises, and the sky can take on many impressive hues.

The Great Barrier Reef

Everyone should experience this incredible natural wonder at least once in their life. The best place to see and explore the Great Barrier Reef is in the Whitsundays region.

There are so many ways to experience the Great Barrier Reef, which means there are a lot of ways for a photographer to capture its magnificence.

Snorkeling will allow you to get up close and personal (though you'll certainly need a good underwater or action camera!), while an aerial tour will allow you to capture the magnitude of the world’s largest coral reef.
