Camera House is seeking to encourage participation in videography and facilitate relationships with aspiring filmmakers throughout Australia. We supply the attached policy as a reflection of this commitment to furthering the interests of filmmakers and seek to provide an outlet for filmmakers to engage with interested viewers. At all levels we are seeking to be fair and reasonable in our dealings with you the filmmaker and the general public and to assist you with idea generation, to promote your film and to assist the industry. If we happen to sell you a camera along the way, then that’d be just great too.
Exclusivity ? Non-exclusive usage rights for one year after submission
We ask that the Non-exclusive usage rights extend for one year from the date of submission. It’s sure not like we want to own your content forever, just to be able to use it for a year.
What about usage and editing?
We also ask that you assign us the Non-exclusive right to use, promote, commercialise and display the submission for one year; and a right to edit and create derivative works such as clips from the Film, so that we can perhaps add licensed music to it, add a Camera House top and tail or fit a clip into promotional material, and generally have some fun with the content you supply without stomping on your artistic integrity. From a period starting at six months from the submission date, the filmmaker may upload submitted content on personal Non-commercial websites (including but not limited to Facebook and YouTube) for Non-commercial Film and Filmmaker publicity and promotion purposes only. For the avoidance of doubt the Filmmaker is not permitted to sell or assign the rights to the Film for any commercial purpose or reward during the period starting at one year from the submission date. This includes providing access to the Film for terrestrial, satellite, and cable broadcast platforms, OTT channels, DTH channels, SVOD services, telecommunication package, travel related platforms including hotels or websites deriving any form of revenue or promotional benefit directly or indirectly.
What is the Communication criteria?
We will not confirm in writing (email) if submission has been accepted or not accepted.

We just won’t publish it so best to not waste your time or ours . Videos need to ideally be in .mov or Mp4 format. The file for the video MUST be named with your family name and phone number, example; Jones0414563552.mp4 Camera House reserves the right to reject any submission.
What is the prize?
A Panasonic 65" OLED TV worth $6399. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. If the winner is under the age of eighteen years (18), the prize will be made payable to the parent, custodian or legal guardian of such recipient. Any prizes awarded are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. Each prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a winner is unable to use the prize as stated.
Am I open to enter any film festival or sell my content elsewhere?
We welcome any participant to make cash from the content they supply to us. We simply ask that you: a ) Have the rights to all of the content you supply us. This includes talent, music, and any other inclusions within your submission. This needs to be explicit. Implied permission or assumptions can cause problems. These problems will be yours. By submitting content you are warranting that you own the rights to the content. And you are indemnifying Camera House from any actions arising if you have failed to secure these rights. b ) Assign us the Non-exclusive rights to use submitted content for our usage as outlined further below. This means that you probably can’t offer exclusive usage rights to this content elsewhere. But we are always happy to chat about how this best suits you, the filmmaker. And we will always try to be fair and pragmatic in our dealings with you, but obviously if you win our competition we would love to be actively promoting your content and don’t want to be prevented from doing so.
And what about the soundtrack or any included music?
If you are submitting the video content with a soundtrack, you need to ensure that unlimited usage of the content is included or that you are the content owner. If in doubt, content should be submitted without a soundtrack so we can manage or add our own.

Evaluation criteria ?
The judges decision is final and not subject to any appeal for reconsideration. The judge, Chis Whiting, is a professional videographer and more than capable of assessing the submissions on artistic merit. As there is an element of subjectivity in the selection process, we ask that you respect his decision as a professional and know that he considers execution, strength of idea, creativity, expression and a myriad of other elements when assessing the winners. He doesn’t take this decisioning lightly. Nor do we. Not everyone will like your creative ideas all the time. Be ok with it. It will serve you better in the long term. Be cool, and live well. Deadline for submissions midnight May 13th 2018. Top 3 videos will be published to our Facebook page on the 15th May at 1pm. Winner being decided and announced Monday the 21st May at 9am. The submission with the highest score based on facebook “likes“ will win. In the event of a tie in the social media voting scenario, judges vote will count as final.
