The Z 6II provides a solid hybrid solution for multimedia creators. The new Nikon Z 6II, an upgrade of the Z 6 all-rounder, delivers both cinematic video and the very best of still imagery. Harnessing Dual EXPEED 6 image-processing engines, the Z 6II allows continuous shooting up to approx. 14 fps with extended buffer. Eye-Detection and Animal-Detection AF are available in both stills and videos. A variety of video recording options now includes 10-bit HDR (HLG) to meet diverse needs. What’s more, the dual memory card slots supporting CFexpress and UHS-II SD cards slots ensure reliable data backup and speedy workflow.

A true multimedia powerhouse

Delivering incredible still photographs via its 24.5 megapixels, the Z 6II’s images are clear, sharp and beautiful even under low light. The Full frame FX-format backside illumination CMOS sensor, together with the EXPEED 6 image-processing engine achieves a wide standard sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200 (expandable to ISO 50-204800 equivalent). The Z 6II features in-camera vibration reduction (VR) that offers an effect equivalent to a shutter speed up to approx. 5.0 stops faster. It detects camera shake using the image’s motion vector information as well as the gyro sensor, and then drives the VR unit to offer compensation in five directions: yaw, pitch, X, Y, and roll. Use the Normal VR mode for reducing camera shake during handheld still shooting, while Sport VR is best utilized to stabilize the image when tracking moving subjects in stills and for video. When recording video with a fixed angle of view, Normal VR can be combined with electronic VR for even steadier shots.

And whilst still photography is at the heart of Nikons DNA, the Z 6II offers a remarkable video solution catering to a variety of users. Novice videographers are sure to benefit from in-camera Picture Controls, which allow easy video production with minimum color grading. Meanwhile, 12-bit RAW video output, 10-bit N-Log or HDR (HLG) can satisfy professional needs. The professional user will love the post shooting advantages offered by the Z 6II particularly around colour adjustment. The Z 6II’s HDMI output offers external recording of RAW, 4:2:2 N-Log and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG). 12-bit RAW video output, a feature obtainable with high-end video cameras, is available in both 4K UHD and Full HD to provide maximum flexibility in color adjustment. 10-bit N-Log records very rich gradation information, capturing up to approx. 1.07 billion colors as well as a wide dynamic range at 12 stops and 1300%, which enables effective color grading. The HLG is convenient for producing HDR videos for HLG monitors. The profile supports ITU-R BT.2100, which features the wide color gamut of the Rec.2020 standard

Enhanced Control

The Z 6II’s 273-point hybrid AF system is enhanced to let you focus on the intended subject more easily than the Z 6, even in busy scenes. Eye-Detection AF and Animal-Detection AF are now available in wide-area AF (L) in addition to auto-area AF. What’s more, the camera saves the last focus position when it is switched off, allowing you to resume your shoot right where you left off. Just like the Z 6, low-light AF is also available, enabling autofocusing down to -6 EV*2. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, that are designed to meet an incredibly strict AF standard, the Z 6II offers superb AF accuracy. Eye-Detection AF is convenient for shooting portraits where the model is constantly changing poses, and Animal-Detection AF is effective even when you are trying to capture tricky content like animals playing with each other. With the Z 6II, capturing your intended subject is easier, even in a crowd. In addition to auto-area AF, these functions are now available in wide-area AF (L), allowing easier focusing only on your intended subject within the focus area. As they are now included in the i menu, quick switching is also possible. Also, Eye-Detection AF, combined with face-detection and upper-body detection technologies, allows you to keep focusing on a human subject even when they temporarily turn their back.
