Sony launches Full-Frame Compact System Camera - The A7R

A7 Facebook Event

Sony have announced a camera that no-one was expecting. A tidy 365 gram Compact System Camera that packs a whopping 36 Megapixel Full-frame sensor!

This camera is creating a stir within the industry, enthusiast and pro photographers can't wait to get their hands on it and the media has been rating this camera beyond any in it's class.

In a meeting with Sony we were told that the sensor is a completely new edition, re-engineered to pack almost perfect light reproduction, there is absolutely no vignetting thanks to a cleaver way of lying the elements of the sensors in a form that captures light extremely effectively. Typically the elements of the sensor lie on a flat surface, so when the light hits the sensor you receive a slight colour distortion around the edges noticeable when zoomed in. Sony's new full frame sensor has the elements warped on the edges so that when light hits them it absorbs the light making the images lighting perfect from centre to edge.

Another welcomed addition of the Sony A7R is it's weather and dust sealed magnesium body ensuring that this high-class camera is kept safe in compromising conditions. If you're one who likes to get amongst nature but are weary of how your cameras mechanics will hold up with in climatic conditions than the Sony A7R will definitely be one to have a look at when looking to buy a powerful new camera.

The A7R utilises 'Fast Intelligent' contrast-detect AF system that Sony have said to be 40% faster than the NEX-7 ensuring that the camera will focus on just about anything and get that clear shot that can sometimes be testing to achieve.
