The StarPointer incorporates a rheostat to control the reticle brightness and easily mounts to most telescopes through a dovetail attachment and finger knobs.

Simple and easy to use: This one-time configuration operation ought to be completed during the course of the day. Take the telescope outside and look for something immediately identifiable, such as a streetlight, a car license plate, or a big tree. The item should be as far away as feasible but no closer than a quarter of a mile. Move the telescope to the left and right, or up and down, to approximately point at the object. Using your low power eyepiece, look through the telescope and move the telescope until the object you choose is in the middle of the view. Turn on the red dot after the object is centered in your eyepiece. Look through the round lens of the finder and locate the red dot with your head approximately a foot behind the finder. Use both of the adjustment knobs on the side and underneath the finder without moving the telescope. One controls the dot's left-right movement. The other controls the dot's up-and-down movement. Adjust both of them so that the red dot appears over the same thing you're looking at via the eyepiece.
