The Tamron AF 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD Lens - Sony E-Mount (APS-C) features excellent optical performance and compact design. The bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture affords consistent brightness throughout the zoom range and delivers improved control over the depth of field. The small and lightweight design includes Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) which utilizes AI technology when shooting video for stable footage. This amazing lens focuses very close, featuring a minimum object distance of 0.19m at the wide-angle and 0.39m at the telephoto end for outstanding images with highly blurred backgrounds.

Superb Optical Performance

The Broad-Band Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coating has been applied to individual elements in order to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting to achieve greater contrast and colour fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions. It features the two LD (Low Dispersion) elements that greatly reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range in order to realize improved clarity and colour accuracy. Two moulded glass aspherical elements and one hybrid aspherical element help to correct distortion and spherical aberrations to achieve a high degree of sharpness and accurate rendering. The bright constant f/2.8 maximum aperture affords consistent brightness throughout the zoom range and delivers improved control over depth of field. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Impressive AutoFocus

The Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive (RXD) autofocus motor offers quiet, quick, and smooth focusing performance to suit stills and video applications. This focusing system also delivers a minimum focusing distance of just 19cm and a 1:4.8 maximum magnification for working with close-up subjects. The Full-time manual focus override is also possible, and it is compatible with Sony's Direct Manual Focus function or fine-tuned manual control.

Features Vibration Compensation (VC)

The VC image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake for more effective handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. When shooting video, the image stabilization is further improved by leveraging AI technology compared to more conventional modes of stabilization.

A moisture-resistant construction benefits this lens' use in inclement conditions and a fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to protect against dirt, dust, and smearing.
