The Technical Details Behind This Camera and Lens Kit

The Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 is a Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds camera with a host of upgraded photography and videography features. The camera comes with a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor along with a new Venus Engine processor. Together, they deliver a much more superior performance than the predecessor.

The optical design of the Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4 Lens includes 14 elements in 12 groups, which consists of two extra-low dispersion (ED) and four aspherical elements. These elements help reduce chromatic aberration and spherical distortion. The elements also include the Nano Surface Coating technology from Panasonic to combat flares and ghosting.

Top Three Reasons We Think You Will Love Panasonic GH5 w/Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4 Lens Compact System Camera Kit
  • The GH5 uses a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor and a Venus Engine processor.
  • The camera comes with splash, dust and freezeproof sealing.
  • The Leica lens uses a micro-step drive system for better brightness control.

Shooting and Focusing Performance

The Panasonic GH5, with its Venus Engine processor, along with the 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor, delivers top performance. The GH5 utilises technologies such as Intelligent Detail Processing and Muti-pixel Luminance to provide the maximum detail, sharpness and lighting reproduction in your images. It uses superior noise reduction techniques and three-dimension colour control mechanisms to help you capture pictures at sensitivities as high as ISO 25600. With the GH5, you will be able to get shooting speeds up to 12fps using the autofocus or manual focus modes.

A linear motor in the Leica 12-60mm lens performs the autofocusing with the help of a sensor drive. This helps the lens to take advantage of the GH’s high-speed autofocus system. It uses high-speed frame analysis for better tracking and focus control while zooming. The lens comes with a micro-step drive system in the aperture control, which helps the camera to adapt to changes in brightness while panning or zooming.

Quality And Reliability

The GH5 has a durable body designed from magnesium alloy along with die-cast rear and front frames. The extensive sealing at every dial, joint and button make the camera dust, splash and freezeproof at temperatures up to 14°F. The camera profile features dials on both the rear and the front for better control over the shutter speed and aperture settings. Multiple function buttons are included to which you can assign different camera functions. The camera has a dedicated dial to control exposure compensation settings.

The Leica lens offers a sturdy build and is quite compact and lightweight, weighing only 320 grams. The lens mount and most of the outer barrel consists of a solid metal build, which flaunts an elegant looking metallic black finish. The inner barrel, the focus and the zoom rings are made of plastic, as are the end caps and lens hood.
