The Technical Details Behind This Camera and Lens
Sony Alpha A6400 is a mirrorless camera with APS-C format, powered by a BIONZ X image processing engine, a tiltable touch LCD, an OLED electronic viewfinder and 4K recording capabilities. The upgraded process lets you capture high-quality images and videos with full pixel readout. The Real-time AF technology ensures your moving subjects are being efficiently tracked and kept in focus.
Top Three Reasons We Think You Will Love The Sony Alpha A6400 w/16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens Kit
- Captures images with high sensitivity and reduced noise with ISO up to 102400.
- Implements Slow and Quick Motion and Fast Hybrid AF technologies for videos.
- Controls the camera remotely and transfers files easily using Wi-Fi and NFC.
Shooting And Focusing Performance
The camera employs an effective focus mechanism through its 425-point phase-detection and contrast-detection systems. You can use the Real-time Eye AF to track your subject’s eyes at improved speeds. Real-time tracking makes use of AI-based object recognition to process depth, colour and brightness to ensure the pictures are captured with utmost accuracy.
The 16-50mm lens features an optical design consisting of 9 elements in 8 groups. It has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24 to 75mm. Four aspherical elements have been used to reduce distortions, while one extra-low dispersion element has been provided to combat chromatic aberrations. Both of them work together to produce images with excellent clarity, contrast and sharpness. The lens offers a maximum aperture of f/3.5 and a minimum aperture of f/5.6. The minimum focus distance on this lens is 0.82' (25cm).
Quality And Reliability
The Sony Alpha A6400 offers a weather-sealing button design that keeps out moisture and dust, along with an anti-dust functionality to shield the optical filter. As part of its compact profile, the camera includes a high-resolution XGA 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder with a 120 fps viewing mode for effective framing and tracking. A tiltable 3.0” TFT LCD touchscreen monitor has been provided for easy access to high and low angles. The touch-to-focus control comes in handy for better control over the focusing. The Wi-Fi and NFC features can be used to wireless control the camera or to transfer the files to another device.
The E PZ 16-50mm is quite versatile in terms of usage since it captures anything from wide-angle landscape shots to crisp portraits. The lens features an Optical Steady Shot image stabilisation function, which reduces the appearance of movement in images by up to four shutter speed steps. This is of huge benefit while shooting handheld, using a higher zoom focal length, or working under strenuous lighting conditions. An electronically-driven zoom mechanism is implemented through the Power Zoom that makes controlling the zoom position much more efficient.
