This camera is a terrific travel camera. The optics within this leviathan boast a massive 83x zoom. The equivalent zoom range in 35mm terms is 24-2000mm! Or in human terms offers the ability to take closeups of the moon. The Camera House team loved the P950 for its huge zoom, particularly for things like shooting lunar photography or bringing those safari subjects from far away plains to front and centre at the click of a button. With the massive zoom comes great responsibility on the stabilisation side so Nikon have engineered a Dual Detect Optical VR that offers a 5.5 stop advantage via vibration reduction. The P950 also offers a surprisingly elegant macro shooting experience with the ability to focus at a tiny 1cm. It’s no slug at wide angle either with a respectable 24mm on offer.
